How does Invisible Mode hide my script from Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams?
PhantomPrompt communicates directly with the macOS WindowServer using Apple’s official setContentProtection security API. When enabled (Cmd + I), macOS instructs the graphics compositor to omit the teleprompter window whenever third-party software captures or records your screen.
Result: You see your illuminated text and guide lines clearly on your monitor, but Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex, OBS, Loom, and ScreenFlow capture only what is behind it.
How do I use Click-Through Mode to interact with background apps?
Click-Through mode lets your mouse clicks, cursor gestures, and trackpad scrolls pass straight through the teleprompter to the window underneath. This allows you to advance keynote slides, draw trendlines on TradingView charts, or navigate browser tabs without closing your script.
- Toggle on/off: Press Cmd + E or E, or click the Click-Thru button in the dock.
- Auto-Protection: When Click-Through is engaged, PhantomPrompt automatically pins itself on top so clicking background apps will never hide your prompter behind other windows.
- Smart Hover: Moving your cursor over the floating dock temporarily restores interactive buttons so you can pause, adjust speed, or switch scripts seamlessly.
How do I move the prompter to an external monitor?
PhantomPrompt includes intelligent multi-display detection:
- One-Click Switch: Click the Switch Display button in the dock (or press Cmd + D) to instantly cycle the teleprompter between your built-in MacBook screen and connected external monitors.
- Direct Dragging: Grab the dock's grip handle (the dots/bars indicator) and drag it directly across the screen edge onto your secondary display. The window bounds automatically adapt to the target display's resolution and menu bar offsets.
How do I position the text to achieve perfect eye contact?
To eliminate the appearance of "reading", follow these two best practices:
- Position under the lens: Drag the top edge of the teleprompter window right below your webcam or MacBook camera notch.
- Constrain Column Width: Open the Text tab in the dock and set the column width slider to between 40% and 60%. This keeps the text narrow and centered under the lens, eliminating horizontal eye darting.
How do I import my scripts and speeches?
You can import scripts in two ways:
- Open File: Press Cmd + O to select any
.txt,.md, or.markdowndocument from your Mac. - Script Library: Click the active script badge in the dock to open the Script Switcher, then click Manage All... to paste raw text, edit existing scripts, or manage preloaded keynotes.
- Keyboard Script Switching: Use [ and ] to cycle backward and forward between scripts in your current session with 1 keystroke.
Does PhantomPrompt require an internet connection or user account?
No. PhantomPrompt is 100% offline-first. No user registration, email sign-up, or internet connection is ever required. Your scripts, preferences, and session data remain entirely on your local machine inside your sandboxed user directory.
